Hungarian rising star Vince Pal Vigvári has taken on a new challenge, joining Spain’s powerhouse Zodiac CNA Barceloneta. At just 20 years old, the mariner is already making waves with his new team. In an exclusive interview, he shares his thoughts on pre-season progress, adapting to a new environment, and Barceloneta’s Champions League ambitions.
Pre-Season Progress
For Vigvári, the journey with Barceloneta has started on a high note. Reflecting on the team’s preparations so far, he said:
“Pre-season has been going really well! We started by playing in the Copa Catalunya (we won the final against Sabadell last Sunday), and we also had a 4-day training camp in Athens with Olympiacos, which went pretty well. The chemistry between the team is growing, and I can already see us improving. The coaches, staff, and teammates have all been amazing, and I’m reall
y enjoying everything so far.”

Adjusting to Life in Spain
Moving to a new country is never easy, but Vigvári is embracing the challenge, both on and off the field.
“Definitely getting used to being in a new country and being on my own has been the biggest adjustment,” he explained. “The team’s super welcoming, and I hang out with the guys a lot, but being independ
ent has been an adjustment. Water polo-wise, it’s also a new way of thinking and playing, plus the language barrier, but I’m learning Spanish as fast as I can and getting better every day!”
His willingness to adapt and learn shows maturity beyond his years, making him a valuable addition to the team’s roster.
Barceloneta’s Champions League Ambitions
Barceloneta has been a consistent contender in the Champions League, and Vigvári is optimistic about what the team can achieve this season.
“One of the reasons I joined Barceloneta is that I felt my style fits well with the team. We have so much potential, and I think our speed is a real asset,” Vigvári shared. “Of course, winning the Champions League would be incredible, and everyone—players, coaches, even the president—dreams of taking those final steps. But it’s going to take a lot of hard work and sacrifice.”
He emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating, “We have amazing individual talent, but at this level, tournaments are won by teams, not individuals. We need to find consistency in the big moments, but we have a good mix of energy from newcomers and experienced players who have been playing here for a long time.”
A Promising Future
As Vigvári continues to settle into life in Spain, his dedication and drive are clear. Barceloneta’s blend of youthful energy and experienced leadership is a strong foundation for success, and Vigvári is determined to play his part in the team’s quest for Champions League glory.
At just 20 years old, he represents the future of water polo—and with Barceloneta, the future looks bright.
